Yale Angels Index Fund Gift Fuels New Alumni Engagement Initiatives
Yale Ventures is pleased to announce a recent gift from the Yale Angels Index Fund to help strengthen Yale’s alumni innovation community.
Following the successful exit of Prepared—a Miller Prize awardee at Startup Yale and Tsai CITY Summer Fellow in 2019, acquired by Axon in September—proceeds from the fund’s carry are now being reinvested in initiatives that strengthen and connect Yale’s alumni innovation community.
“The Yale Angels Index Fund was created to make it easy for investors to back Yale founders—and just as importantly, to reinvest in the community that supports them,” said Sam Hendel, Co-Founder, Yale Angels. “Seeing our carry proceeds directly fund alumni programs that foster connection and collaboration among Yale entrepreneurs is exactly the kind of impact we hoped to achieve.”
Building on the success of the Y Startup Index, the Yale Angels Index Fund offers a diversified vehicle to back early-stage startups founded by Yale alumni, faculty, and students. The fund donates 100% of its carry proceeds to Yale University or Yale-affiliated non profits advancing innovation and entrepreneurship.
In partnership with Accelerate Yale and Yale Angels Index Fund, Yale Ventures will host two upcoming events supported by this gift: A Yale Alumni Startup Networking Event in New York City in early 2026, connecting alumni founders, investors, and innovators across industries, and a Yale Alumni Founder Reunion at the 2026 Yale Innovation Summit. This event will feature programming and networking designed to connect Yale alumni founders from around the world.
“We are grateful for the volunteer service from the Yale Angels team and Accelerate Yale that is helping connect Yale founders with needed investment capital,” said Josh Geballe, Managing Director of Yale Ventures. “It is wonderful to see their work start to generate investment returns that will be reinvested in support the Yale startup community.”
