Drug discovery to improve egg quality for next-generation IVF and assisted reproductive technologies

We have developed a synthetic oocyte aging platform that recapitulates age-associated chromosome segregation errors, a leading cause of infertility and miscarriage, within hours, enabling the first functional screening system in native oocytes. This transforms reproductive aging into a tractable drug discovery problem. By screening FDA-approved compounds, we can identify molecules that improve egg quality through transient, non-genetic mechanisms. We will establish a quantitative screening assay and perform an initial screen within 6 months, and nominate candidate compounds with evidence of improved chromosome segregation and reduced aneuploidy phenotypes in oocytes.
