Dana Gooley

Pianist Dana Gooley is a musicologist and Professor of Music at Brown University. He studied classical piano at New England Conservatory of Music and taught himself jazz piano while pursuing his Ph.D. in musicology at Princeton University. He counts Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, and Keith Jarrett as his most significant influences. He has performed in Tokyo, Paris, Berlin as well as many cities across the US. For years he ran the Sunday jazz jam session at Boston's historic club Wally's Cafe. A teacher and scholar of jazz history, he is currently writing a book about the classic album Moanin' by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
