Overview 

We have several opportunities for students interested in working as Summer Associates with Yale Ventures. These paid full-time roles are assigned to one of our teams working in functional areas ranging from corporate prospecting, data analysis, communications and writing, market strategy, technology assessment, and project management. Our Summer Associates can also participate in monthly learning opportunities with Yale innovators to help deepen their understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship at Yale.

Qualifications: Strong analytical skills and business acumen. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Passion for commercialization and entrepreneurship. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Commitment: Each opportunity is full-time (maximum of 35 hours per week, unless otherwise noted), with work starting early June through August.

Compensation: These positions are compensated at $20 per hour for undergraduate students and $25 for graduate students, unless otherwise noted.

Hiring Manager: Amy Kundrat, Director of Innovation Community

We are seeking several highly motivated and creative Innovation Community Associate to support our marketing and communications efforts, helping to amplify the stories and impact of Yale’s innovation ecosystem. This role offers an opportunity to engage with entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry leaders while gaining hands-on experience in digital marketing, storytelling, and community engagement. Each role is at least 20 hours a week with the potential to be full-time. 

Associate: Storytelling & Content Creation

  • Collaborate with Yale Ventures program leads, student founders, and campus partners to capture stories from events, programs, and the broader innovation ecosystem.
  • Support content planning and light editorial strategy by identifying story opportunities, maintaining content calendars, and helping surface emerging themes across Yale’s innovation activities.
  • Assist with event coverage and rapid-turn storytelling (live or post-event) for programs such as workshops, fellowships, and the Yale Innovation Summit.
  • Help ensure a consistent voice and narrative across Yale Ventures communications, aligning storytelling with broader brand and ecosystem goals.
  • Create engaging stories, social media posts, and website content that bring the Yale Ventures ecosystem to life.
  • Track and curate event listings from Yale and partner organizations, ensuring visibility on Yale Ventures channels.

Associate: Branding & Design

  • Design and refine branded templates and visual assets for Yale Ventures promotional materials, including digital campaigns, presentations, event collateral, and digital signage, using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Develop clear, reusable design guides and template systems that ensure visual consistency across PowerPoint decks, marketing materials, and campus-facing communications.

  • Collaborate with the Yale Ventures marketing and programs team to translate complex innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives into compelling, accessible visual stories for students, faculty, and partners.

Associate: Creative Technology & Prototyping (Vibe Coding)

  • Rapidly prototype lightweight digital tools, microsites, and interactive experiments to support Yale Ventures programs, events, and storytelling initiatives using no-code/low-code tools, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Innovation Community team to explore creative uses of AI, automation, and interactive media that enhance engagement with faculty, students, founders, and partners.
  • Support special projects by building quick proofs of concept, demos, or internal tools that test new ideas before full-scale investment.
  • Document experiments and workflows, sharing learnings and reusable assets that help the Yale Ventures team adopt new creative technologies over time.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Associate to support strategic portfolio analysis and translational research assessment initiatives for the Blavatnik Fund. This role will focus on (1) synthesizing portfolio awardee data for annual reporting and (2) conducting a landscape analysis of life science translational research at Yale to inform outreach and strategic engagement.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in life sciences innovation, academic translation, venture development, and research portfolio strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Impact Assessment & Annual Reporting

  • Interact directly with Blavatnik portfolio awardees to collect updated information on scientific progress, milestones, publications, funding, and commercialization activities.
  • Collate, summarize, and format scientist data and faculty biographies for inclusion in the Blavatnik Fund Annual Report.
  • Develop clear, compelling summaries of awardee achievements to support internal reporting and external communications.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reporting materials.

Translational Research Landscape & Gap Analysis

Combine and analyze data from multiple sources, including:

  • Yale records of awarded grants
  • Yale Ventures’ disclosures
  • Yale news releases
  • Recent publications from Yale faculty

Conduct a structured gap analysis comparing:

  • Active areas of life science translational research at Yale
  • Departments and research areas represented across Blavatnik Fund applications

Identify underrepresented departments or emerging scientific areas where targeted outreach may be warranted.

Present findings in a clear, actionable format for leadership decision-making.

The Summer Associate for the Roberts Innovation Fund in Yale Ventures will play a vital role in advancing the university's breakthrough innovations from the Yale School of Engineering & Applied Science into the market. This position is tailored for a student currently enrolled at Yale, providing them with a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academia and industry.  

The Summer Associate will work closely with external industry experts within Yale Ventures’ Entrepreneur-in-Residence program, gaining valuable mentorship and hands-on experience in lab-to-market activities and customer discovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Discovery: Collaborate with the Yale Ventures team to identify potential customers and market opportunities for university-developed technologies. Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to assess the commercial viability of innovations.
  • Market Strategy: Assist in the development of market entry strategies, including market segmentation, competitive analysis, and pricing strategies. Contribute to the creation of comprehensive business plans.
  • Mentorship: Engage with industry experts and mentors who will provide guidance and insights into entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, and business development. Leverage their expertise to refine ideas and strategies.
  • Technology Assessment: Learn more about the technical feasibility and intellectual property considerations of university technologies.  
  • Project Management: Effectively manage and prioritize tasks related to customer discovery projects. Maintain organized records and document findings for future reference.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports on progress to Yale Ventures team and university stakeholders. Present findings and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.

HealthTech Works is Yale’s dedicated accelerator for health technology innovation, empowering Yale faculty to translate breakthrough research into practical, scalable, and validated solutions.  

Students will support projects that support the launch of this new fund and work closely with the Yale Ventures team.

Hiring Manager: Henry Ritter

Role Description: This is the inaugural year of the Planetary Solutions Impact Accelerator (PSIA), part of Yale Planetary Solutions (YPS) and powered by Yale Ventures. The goal of PSIA is to provide Yale faculty innovators with the support needed to move environmental technologies from the lab into society through milestone-based funding of up to $250K.

We are recruiting two Associates to help support the PSIA fund this summer. The work has two main components. First, to provide commercialization support to the faculty PIs who have been awarded grants. This catalyzing support will be wide-ranging and specific to each faculty project, with the goal of helping prepare emerging technologies for market. Second, to provide support to the fund itself as we mature and expand.

Commercial support may include:
Leading market sizing and competitive analysis
Developing potential go-to-market strategies
Conducting customer discovery interviews
Exploring potential external partnerships with industry and other strategic interests
Researching potential policy, regulatory, and legal hurdles and their implications
Meeting with climate tech experts in residence (EIRs) to understand landscapes, prioritize workstreams, and shape investable ventures

Fund support may include:
Identifying and engaging with PIs across campus who may be future candidates for PSIA funding
Helping expand the fund’s industry and climatetech investor networks
Creating a structured database, calendar, and guide to support PSIA projects seeking additional funding opportunities
Collecting data and synthesizing highlights from the achievements of our current portfolio companies to showcase their progress and impact

Responsibilities:
Ramp up quickly on early stage technologies to determine their commercial potential
Identify, prioritize, and execute independent workstreams
Meet regularly with PIs to coordinate efforts and collaborate on shared workstreams
Meet regularly with the PSIA team to share updates and identify areas of additional support needs

Requirements:

Current undergraduate, graduate, or professional school student at Yale
Interest in lab-to-market entrepreneurship, with a focus on environmental technologies
Excited by working across many stages of the commercialization process, rather than specifically one dimension or skillset

Yale Ventures is hiring a part-time, project-based Student Associate to help build and improve Venture Lab Canvas, our learning platform for faculty founders and innovators exploring commercialization and venture-building.

What you’ll do

  • Build and organize modules in Canvas  
  • Apply instructional design basics to make content clear, engaging, and easy to navigate
  • Turn draft material from staff/SMEs into polished online learning experiences
  • QA courses for consistency, accessibility, and user experience

What we’re looking for

  • Experience using Canvas (as a builder/admin preferred; as a student is ok if you’ve built content)\
  • Intro-to-intermediate instructional design experience (course projects count)

Hiring Manager: Min Kim

Yale Venture Lab helps to accelerate Yale faculty ventures that have already established proof-of-concept. Working across six major themes (Therapeutics, Medtech, Digital Healthcare, Data Science, High Tech, and Climate Tech), faculty innovators work with small teams of experts (Yale EIRs) drawn from industry and the investment world to refine their research and explore applications with market potential.

Venture Lab Associates are Yale MBA, MPH, PhD, or MD students who work with faculty to advance science validation, conduct market research, engage in early customer development, and substantiate market potential. The associates will be well-versed in emerging trends and technologies in the venture capital industry, and have a keen interest in, or background in the six areas of research that we support. Candidates must be extremely organized, possess excellent communication skills, and capable of interacting with a wide range of domain experts. Venture Lab associates will gain first-hand exposure to entrepreneurship and venture development, and work closely with world class faculty, executives, start-up founders, and investors. 

Preferred candidates: MBA students or students with management consulting experience.

Yale Ventures is seeking a highly motivated Intern to support the Investor Network team, led by Anida Kulla, Director of Investor Network. This role is ideal for students interested in venture capital, startups, and early-stage investing.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on early-stage investors, venture capital firms, and funding trends.
  • Assist in organizing investor events, meetings, and pitch sessions.
  • Support faculty founders by gathering and summarizing investor resources.
  • Maintain and update investor databases and CRM systems.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and communications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide general administrative support for the Investor Network team.

Qualifications:

  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Interest in startups, venture capital, and university spinouts.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Summer with potential for academic year

The summer associate will assist with compliance reporting on invention disclosures and patent documents to federal funding agencies. This involves data management in Salesforce, evaluating data accuracy and preparing reporting documents for federal agencies under the guidance of IP compliance manager.  No prior knowledge of patent law or federal regulations is expected but the position will provide an opportunity to learn.  Required Skills: MS Office, web data searches, attention to detail and time management. Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Airtable is desired.

We are seeking a highly motivated, thoughtful, collaborative individual to join us as a summer associate. The Technology Transfer Intern will have an opportunity to work directly with the Yale Ventures IP & Licensing team as we support Yale Faculty in commercializing their innovations. The Technology Transfer Intern should have demonstrated interest in the translational impact of scientific research, technology commercialization, and entrepreneurship activities.
