With RAPT therapeutics, I conducted a Phase 2 RCT of a small molecule (RPT 193) that targets CCR4 for severe asthma. The trial halted, but RAPT has a new de-risked asset ready for clinical development. GSK acquired RAPT, but is not proceeding with this program. Serum and nasal samples from the RPT193 trial are coming to my lab at Yale. The Blavatnik funds will be used to conduct transcriptomic and proteomic analyses on the samples to demonstrate that targeting CCR4 in patients with severe asthma correlates with clinical response to RPT193 compared to placebo (Milestone). I will use this data negotiate/collaborate with GSK to out license and move this first in class oral CCR4 antagonist into clinical development for severe asthma and other allergic diseases.
