Current methods for diagnosing sleep motor disorders are invasive, costly, and have limited accuracy. StretchTex is transitioning our lab’s technologies into clinically-robust, smart sleepwear that can estimate users’ body pose during sleep and diagnose these diseases without requiring laborious in-clinic sleep tests. Our team developed two breakthrough advances to enable this innovation: electronics capable of stretching to over 4.5 times their initial length, and completely textile-based strain sensors integrated into comfortable, smart garments.
