Our groundbreaking discovery demonstrated that immune responses against Streptococcus pyogenes (the bacteria responsible for strep throat) can be effectively redirected to attack pancreatic cancer cells expressing keratin 17 (K17). K17 is a protein found in over half of pancreatic tumors but is rarely expressed in healthy tissues, making it an ideal target. We have developed a first-in-class, all-in-one vaccine that not only trains the immune system to recognize and eliminate K17-expressing cancer cells but also actively promotes the display of K17 antigens on the cancer cell surface, marking them for destruction
